Ghostlight, Chemistry Announce To End All Wars

July 5, 2007 | By Brandon Boyer

UK-based publisher Ghostlight has announced To End All Wars an Unreal Engine 3 powered World War I trench warfare first person shooter in development by Chemistry (formerly Kuju Sheffield) for a summer 2008 release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Ghostlight says the title will deliver "unrivaled atmosphere and realism" to the FPS genre, with period locations "recreated in lavish detail" and authentic weaponry, uniforms and style.

The title is the first game announced by Chemistry, the recently rebranded Kuju Sheffield studio which has previously worked on a diverse set of titles including the LMA Manager and Club Football series, Sensible Soccer 2006, Pilot Academy for PSP, and a Buzz! title for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

As discussed at greater length in Gamasutra's exclusive Q&A with Chemistry head Simeon Pashley, the studio is now entirely focused on Unreal Engine 3, with To End All Wars expected as its debut title, with another non-FPS UE3 title yet-undetailed.

Said Ghostlight head of development Stephen Morgan, “By producing a title set in World War I, we are taking gaming into a new period of wartime history. Our research revealed huge global changes in both real-world technology and tactical deployment of battle units during the intense four year conflict. This has given us scope to present gamers with a multitude of evolving challenges within an ever changing environment”.
