The winners of the 26th annual Golden Joystick Awards have been announced in the UK, with Call of Duty 4, Grand Theft Auto IV and Metal Gear Solid 4 amongst the victors.
The awards ceremony took place in London on Friday afternoon and as usual each category was voted on purely by members of the public (the exception being the Edge Most Wanted Award).
More than 850,000 votes were received this year, with consumers voting for games released over the last twelve months.
Activision's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare won in four of the 17 categories, including Ultimate Game of the Year, Nuts All-Nighter Award, PC Game of the Year and Online Game of the Year. Call of Duty: World at War also won the One to Watch award and Activision Blizzard picked up the Publisher of the Year award.
Rockstar Game's Grand Theft Auto IV was the only other game to win multiple awards, picking up Soundtrack of the Year and Xbox Game of the Year. Developer Rockstar North also won the UK developer of the year award.
