Graphics software company Corel announced the release of Corel Painter 11, the latest edition of its painting and illustration application with over 40 new and enhanced features.
Painter 11's toolset now includes new artistic media, hard media brushes (marker, pen, pencil, and chalk), and selection tools. Users can also create and customize brushes and media variants to meet their specifications. Among other optimizations, brushes have been improved to perform up to 30 percent faster than in previous versions.
The updated software features new color management designed to improve color recognition when importing files from other programs (e.g. Corel Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Photoshop). Individual color profiles are available per document to help provide better color accuracy for each file.
Corel Painter 11 also adds pressure-sensitive brushes, as well as new selection tools, such as a Polygonal mode for its lasso tool. Additionally, the marquee tools and Magic Wand have seen improvements since the last software version.
"The cornerstone of Painter's success has always been our loyal user community," says Corel Painter product manager Rob MacDonald. "During the development cycle for Painter 11, we listened closely and carefully to what these talented artists were saying about our product - the features they loved and the new features they needed as they worked with Painter on a day-to-day basis."
"With Painter 11, we've successfully addressed many of the key areas our users highlighted while also delivering some exciting new features that will further expand artists' creative options."
