French game publisher Ubisoft announced Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, the latest in the company's popular line of military-themed shooters.

During a Tuesday conference call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed the game is in development for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, and Nintendo Wii and DS. A press release that only mentioned an Xbox 360 release said the game is under development by the team behind Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2.

Ubisoft Paris developed the campaigns for the original GRAW and GRAW 2, while Ubisoft's Red Storm studio worked on the multiplayer component of the games.

The Xbox 360 platform will also host an exclusive multiplayer beta this summer, open for a limited time to anyone who purchases Ubisoft's April stealth action release Tom Clancys Splinter Cell Conviction for Xbox 360.

Ubisoft said Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is slated for release worldwide this holiday.

The Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon franchise debuted in 2002 and has seen seven installments. Through March 31, 2009, the series has sold 17 million units total, according to Ubisoft's most recent annual report.
