3D gesture recognition software developer Softkinetic has updated its iisu middleware, adding a variety of new features and support for the Linux operating system.
Linux support bolsters iisu's existing compatibility with the Windows NT, XP, Vista, and Windows 7 operating systems.
Version 2.5 of issu also introduces Interaction Designer, a new tool allowing serious game designers to prototype gesture recognition in existing applications.
Other new features include a complete UI development framework, a new plugin for Unity 3D, and an updated Adobe Flash plugin.
"Our goal is to simplify the life for developers who want to deliver compelling gesture based experiences on multiple platforms and with any 3D camera," said Softkinetic co-founder Eric Krzeslo. "In addition to reducing the CPU footprint of the SDK by over 75% compared to iisu 2.0, the R&D team has worked with multiple clients and partners to make the solution even more robust and worry free."
