Capcom has posted its financial results for the the 2010 fiscal year ended March 31, with sharp increases in both revenue and profits.

The Japanese publisher noted that its flagship PSP title Monster Hunter Freedom 3 marked the fastest selling PSP game in the history of the handheld console, shipping over 4.6 million units since its release, helping drive annual results.

Other titles that played a major role in Capcom's successful fiscal year were Dead Rising 2 and Marvel VS. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, both of which sold just over two million copies.

In total, Capcom reached a new milestone in the last fiscal year, with five million-selling titles overall. Super Street Fighter IV sold 1.6 million units, while Lost Planet 2 sold 1.5 million units.

The company reported that annual revenues increased 46.2 percent to 97.72 billion ($1.2 billion), up from last year's 66.84 billion ($832.3 million).

Profits were up 257.6 percent to 7.75 billion ($96.5 million) from 2.17 billion ($27.0 million) year-over-year, surpassing the company's estimated forecast. Capcom said this year set a record for sales and profits.

Forecasting results for the current fiscal year, Capcom estimates that it will make 86 billion ($1.07 billion) in net sales and 7 billion ($87.2 million) in profits.

Elsewhere, the publisher noted that the damage caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake forced it to close down 10 of its arcades temporarily. Three of these have since been re-opened.
