Xbox 360 Minecraft Pushed Back To Spring 2012, Playable At Vegas Con

October 25, 2011 | By Kyle Orland

A highly anticipated Xbox 360 version of PC indie smash hit Minecraft will hit Xbox Live Arcade next Spring, though fans will be able to play an early version at next month's Minecon gathering in Las Vegas.

The Spring 2012 release window, revealed in a tweet from producer Stuart Platt, comes after Microsoft targeted the title for a Winter 2012 release in an E3 announcement.

Those wanting to try the console version early can buy a ticket to MineCon, the recently announced Las Vegas fan festival taking place November 18 and 19. Attendees at the event will also get alpha access to Mojang's upcoming titles Scrolls and Cobalt, the company has announced.

Mojang is collaborating with Dundee-based 4J Studios on the console version of MineCraft, which is coming exclusively to the Xbox 360.

The port promises support for the system's depth-sensing Kinect camera and regular updates in parallel to the PC version, which has now seen over 4 million paid downloads over its alpha and beta releases.
