British trade group UKIE announced today that it now has 100 members in total, more than doubling its membership numbers over the last year.
The company announced the figure as part of its annual general meeting, noting that it is now no longer dominated by publishers, with many more non-publisher organisations having signed up in recent months.
The UKIE is made up of development and publishing communities, along with educational institutions and service companies. Members include the likes of Activision Blizzard UK, Atari UK, Game Group and Sony Computer Entertainment.
UKIE chairman Andy Payne explained, "2011 has been another exciting year of seismic changes within our industry."
"UKIE has evolved with the industry, and I am delighted to announce today that we have just signed up our one hundredth member and more than doubled our membership in the last year."
"We are now the only trade body to represent the wider interactive entertainment industry - our members are developers, publishers, format holders, retailers, distributors and academic institutions."
