In our latest round-up of Japanese game industry news not previously reported on Gamasutra, we look at the recent hacking of the Square Enix Members service, next year's CEDEC 2012 show, and new milestones for Sega's Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA series and Konami's Dragon Collection.

Square Enix Members Hacking Case: No Personal Data Leaked

Square Enix claims that the hackers who breached the North American and Japanese servers for its Square Enix Members service last week did not gain access to the database that holds users' personal data.

The free service allows users to view game profiles and information, talk with others about Square Enix releases, and keep up to date with news from the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest maker.

Square Enix previously revealed that hackers accessed data for at least 1.8 million accounts, but it said no credit card information was retrieved. The publisher closed the service on December 13, and will restore if before the end of the year.

Date Set For CEDEC 2012

Japanese group CESA (Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association) announced that next year's CEDEC (Computer Entertainment Developers Conference) will take place from August 20 to 22 at the Pacifico Yokohama convention center.

The annual trade show is open exclusively to developers, publishers, and industry professionals. It features sessions hosted by developers from around the world, and hosts an awards ceremony on the final night.

CESA is currently taking submissions for CEDEC 2012 lectures from January 15 to March 13. More information on submitting your session is available here.

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Series Crosses One Million Shipped

Sega's Hatsune Mike: Project DIVA series, which is made up of rhythm games themed around vocaloid sensation Hatsune Miku, has shipped over one million copies in Japan since its debut in 2009.

The franchise include three PSP titles: Project DIVA, Project DIVA 2nd, and Project DIVA Extend. Sega also intends to launch Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai for Nintendo 3DS in March 2012. The series has not yet appeared in the U.S.

Konami Social Game Dragon Collection Tops Five Million Members

Konami's Dragon Collection, which is available on Japanese mobile social gaming network GREE, has reached more than five million registered users thanks to tie-ins with beverage makers, a Weekly Shounen manga, and other promotions.

Konami previously said Dragon Collection was one of its strongest performers for the year in its November earnings report, and claimed it was the number one title on GREE. It had reached the 4 million mark at the end of August.
