Capcom's Yoshinori Ono, the producer behind fighting games including Street Fighter IV
, is stepping back from his work for a while after being hospitalized earlier this week.
Sony said earlier in the week that Ono's physical condition had "heavily deteriorated" and he was admitted to hospital.
The Capcom producer has now taken to Twitter to let fans know that he is out of hospital, and to note that he will be refraining from work for the meanwhile, although he does not directly link his stepping back from the role at Capcom with his illness.
"I'll be out of the limelight... for a while," he said
. "Another person [is] in charge of the Street Fighter
series for a while. Of course I'll constant support to it."
He added that after he has recovered, he plans to "think about the new future of fighting games."
Ono recently talked to Gamasutra
about where he hopes to take the future of fighting games, noting that his dream is to create a Marvel vs. D.C. video game.
