Top-Grossing iOS Games: Galaxy Empire takes on Draw Something

April 4, 2012 | By Danny Cowan

Every week, Gamasutra rounds up the top-grossing iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store. This week's U.S. revenue charts see Draw Something and Galaxy Empire earning top iPhone sales, while DragonVale and Angry Birds Space remain big sellers on the iPad.

These charts allow end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies.

Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings.

This week's top-grossing iPhone titles are:

1. Draw Something ($0.99)
2. Galaxy Empire (Free)
3. Angry Birds Space ($0.99)
4. Poker by Zynga (Free)
5. DragonVale (Free)
6. Texas Poker (Free)
7. Slotomania (Free)
8. Draw Something Free (Free)
9. Bejeweled Blitz (Free)
10. Clear Vision (17+) ($0.99)

OMGPOP's Draw Something overtakes last week's chart winner Angry Birds Space to become the App Store's current highest-grossing iPhone app. Tap4Fun's space colonization title Galaxy Empire enters the top ten at second place, while Poker by Zynga leads over DragonVale at fourth.

The ad-supported Draw Something Free falls to eighth place in today's results, meanwhile, as newcomer sniper sim Clear Vision makes its chart debut at tenth place.

Here are this week’s top-grossing iPad applications:

1. Angry Birds Space HD ($2.99)
2. DragonVale (Free)
3. Poker by Zynga (Free)
4. Draw Something ($0.99)
5. Slotomania (Free)
6. Mystery Manor: Hidden Adventure (Free)
7. Modern War (Free)
8. The Sims FreePlay (Free)
9. Slotomania HD (Free)
10. Bejeweled Blitz (Free)

Angry Birds Space heads up the iPad revenue charts for the second week in a row, fending off competition from Backflip Studios' DragonVale and Poker by Zynga.

Slotomania moves up the charts to claim fifth place, while The Sims FreePlay reports newfound popularity at eighth.
