PathEngine SDK update adds pathfinding space optimizations

June 7, 2012 | By Eric Caoili

Newsbrief: PathEngine has released version 5.30 of its software development kit, implementing several bug fixes and enhancements, including pathfinding space optimizations.

The company says its pathfinding space optimizations are designed "to split boundaries out of the core pathfinding space and significantly reduce the complexity of pathfinding related operations." The SDK also offers extended support for memory allocation customization.

PathEngine also announced several new licensees: TN Soft (Project R), Eyedentity Games (Dungeon Striker and another unannounced title) Reloaded Studios (The Day), Smilegate, and IK Games. Existing client ZoofFly has also licensed two additional titles.

A number of triple-A titles have used the pathfinding engine int he past, including CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 2 and Avalanche Studios' Just Cause 2. A full SDK changelog for 5.30 is available here.
