GDC sister event App Developers Conference organizers have announced two new talks added to the November line-up: Square product design lead Martin Pedrick on developing new design tools to move past wireframes and photo editors, and Sequence CEO Jojo Roy on app developers' opportunities to create new experiences using embedded sensor-driven data (and associated common pitfalls).

From the creators of the largest and longest-running game professional-focused Game Developers Conference (GDC), the brand new App Developers Conference (ADC) offers professionals a venue to share their knowledge about building, designing, marketing, and selling their apps. ADC will run November 5th-7th at the Los Angeles Convention Center and will be co-located with GDC Next.

Designing apps with wireframes and photo editing software needlessly saddles us with real-world limitations, argues Square product design lead Martin Pedrick (formerly of Apple and 80/20). In his talk, titled 'From Old Masters to Expressionism,' Pedrick will show Square's new open-source tools that will help developers take advantage of our powerful mobile devices to build apps not limited by physical media.

Developers can build apps that use sensor data to help a user track their emotional state, daily activity, and more -- but doing that well means knowing how to choose the right sensor, target the right device ecosystem, and design the user experience accordingly. Sequence CEO Jojo Roy will speak to these challenges in a talk called 'Sensors: Tapping Into Data with Personal Meaning,' where he will discuss the challenges overcome by new and notable sensor-driven experiences. He'll also share Sequence's experiences incubating Senstream, a platform that combines sensors, apps, and the cloud to enable people to measure and manage their emotions and stress levels.

These sessions join a number of previously announced talks by Netflix, Pandora, Evernote, and more -- all of which are now available on our expanding interactive Session Scheduler. Recent session additions include FitStar on testing and scaling to prevent service outage at launch, and Zimmdot on creating native iOS and Android apps by integrating Javascript.

Also of note, ADC organizers recently shared survey results from over 250 app developers on issues they face currently, including piracy and discoverability on app stores. Those interested in the study can view all of the results for free.

Online registration is in full-swing for ADC and the co-located GDC Next; register now and save up to $200 on ADC, GDC Next, or a combined VIP All Access Pass.
