GDC sister event App Developers Conference organizers are highlighting some of its most exciting talks from the Entertainment Apps Track: internet radio service Pandora's web to mobile app transition, Rotoshop animation software creator Bob Sabiston on comparing his design and UI approaches for Nintendo and Apple hardware, and Tumblr on bad habits for mobile software developers and navigating the "always connected" myth.

From the creators of the largest and longest-running game professional-focused Game Developers Conference (GDC), the brand new App Developers Conference (ADC) offers professionals a venue to share their knowledge about building, designing, marketing, and selling their apps. ADC will run November 5th-7th at the Los Angeles Convention Center and will be co-located with GDC Next.

Talks from the Entertainment Apps Track at GDC Next will offer talks on streaming TV, video, audio, and text, along with interactive, second-screen apps that take advantage of you watching entertainment on your other screens. Notable talks in this area will include the following:

In 'The Bad Habits of Mobile Software Engineers,' Tumblr mobile engineering manager Chris Haseman will share the habits he has overcome in his decade of mobile software development. Haseman will describe how to build honest, enjoyable software, and how to navigate the 'Always Connected' myth. He will also cover how to keep app ratings, no matter the store, from being wrecked by trolls.

In 'Pandora: Making the Successful Transition from Web to App,' CTO Tom Conrad will share how to design for when the primary use case is the user's ears. His session will explore how the internet radio service has been designed, scaled, and monetized for mobile, achieving cross-platform success by being focused on the simplicity of the core product.

In Bob Sabiston's 'Programming as Art,' the Rotoshop animation software creator (used in movies "Waking Life" and "A Scanner Darkly") will discuss the design and UI approaches for three of his recent projects. He will speak about differences between developing for Apple versus Nintendo hardware, reviewing Inchworm Animation (art software for Nintendo DSi/eShop), Headspace (3D mind-mapping for iOS), and Voxel (block-building and 3D-printing for iOS).

These sessions join a number of previously announced talks by Netflix, Evernote, and more -- all of which are now available on our expanding interactive Session Scheduler. Recent session highlights include EA founder Trip Hawkins on his new learning service, Animoca on complying with new online privacy rules, and Dreamkind on standing toe-to-toe with Elmo and other powerful kids' brands.

Also of note, ADC organizers have shared survey results from over 250 app developers on issues they face currently, including piracy and discoverability on app stores. Those interested in the study can view all of the results for free.
