Gamasutra EIC Kris Graft booted up his PlayStation 4 earlier this week, to find that it had the dreaded "blue light of death" and needed to be sent back to Sony -- and although he isn't alone, it seem that the numbers are not out of the ordinary for a launch cycle.
that under 1 percent of newly-shipped consoles have been affected, according to the Washington Post. That means with the 1 million PS4 units sold on day one, anywhere up to 10,000 consumers may have been finding issues with their consoles.
The company is finding it difficult to pinpoint the problem too, stating that "There have been several issues reported, which leads us to believe there isn't a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of PS4 units."
Of course, it's worth noting that there are always small numbers of issues with new consoles (and consumer electronics in general) at launch. Whether these issues will escalate remains to be seen.
