Another round of layoffs seems to be sweeping through The Lord of the Rings Online
developer Turbine, though it's not yet clear how many people will lose their job or how this affects the studio's continuing operations.
Following scattered reports on Twitter today by Turbine employees, a representative of Turbine parent company Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment confirmed the layoffs and issued the following statement to Joystiq
"As part of our normal business process, we're routinely looking at the strategic alignment of our company. Unfortunately, in order for us to invest in growth areas at Turbine, we have to eliminate some positions."
"These are always tough decisions, which we don't approach lightly, but it's crucial that Turbine is structured in a way that reflects the current and coming marketplace."
That's the exact same statement the company gave to Gamasutra and other outlets when Turbine suffered a similar series of layoffs
earlier this year.

An anonymous source involved in the matter has confirmed the layoffs to Gamasutra, estimating that roughly 80 people may have lost their jobs at Turbine this week as the company moves to focus on mobile development.
