Disruptor Beam nets $3.2M in funding to keep making social games

November 19, 2014 | By Alex Wawro

Massachusetts-based social game developer Disruptor Beam has managed to raise $3.2 million from investors new and old during a recent Series A funding round.

The company has seen success with its debut title, Game of Thrones Ascent, which has surpassed seven million installs across Facebook, iOS and Kongregate since its release last February.

In a recent interview with Gamasutra, Disruptor Beam CEO Jon Radoff said that the Game of Thrones license attracted a large audience to the free-to-play game, many of whom proved "very likely to convert" to paying customers.

Disruptor Beam's latest round of funding saw contributions from prior investors like Harmonix founders Alex Rigopulos and Eran Egozy, as well as newcomers like Midverse Studios and GrandBanks Capital.

The studio plans to use its newfound cash to expand its team and its stable of licensed properties, as well as funding development of both its upcoming free-to-play social game Star Trek Timelines and an underlying cross-game social platform.
