Activision remains coy over latest Call of Duty sales figures

November 20, 2014 | By Mike Rose

Activision said today that the Call of Duty franchise has brought in more than $10 billion in revenue to date -- although the company remained coy about how well Advanced Warfare is selling.

In the past, the publisher has been happy to share launch sale figures for Call of Duty titles. However, it stopped doing so around the time that the franchise began to see a year-over-year sales decline.

Now Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg has given a rather vague statement regarding sales of the latest Call of Duty title, Advanced Warfare, simply noting, "Sales and engagement are up through the first week compared to last year. Season Pass sales are up, as well."

Regardless of its performance compared to past Call of Duty games, Advanced Warfare is apparently "the biggest entertainment launch of 2014 in terms of revenue, surpassing all movie, music and book launches this year," according to Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick.
