Unity rolls out support for Microsoft's HoloLens goggles

Unity rolls out support for Microsoft's HoloLens goggles

April 29, 2015 | By Alex Wawro

Newsbrief: Less than two weeks after integrating Visual Studio into Unity, Microsoft has confirmed that Unity developers will soon be able to build games for the company's upcoming HoloLens headset

In a company blog post Unity's Scott Flynn claims that Unity (both Personal and Pro versions) will be updated with support for features of Microsoft's "holographic headset" like gesture and voice recognition, spatial mapping, and "the ability to anchor holographic objects to specific locations in the real world."

No specific deadline has been set for the rollout of Unity for HoloLens, but developers attending Microsoft's Build developer conference in San Francisco this week can see an early alpha version of the tools in action.
