'Oculus Ready' badged PCs coming next year

'Oculus Ready' badged PCs coming next year

September 24, 2015 | By Christian Nutt

Today at Oculus Connect, the company's VP of product, Nate Mitchell, announced a new "Oculus Ready" program. PCs sold by partners who sign up for the program will be certified (and badged) by Oculus as meeting the specifiations for at least the minimum spec for Rift.

The first wave of Oculus Ready PCs -- at least on the on the low end -- will be "under $1,000," according to Mitchell. The program, like the Rift, will launch in early 2016.

Announced partners include AMD, Intel, Nvidia, Dell, Alienware, and Asus -- with more slated to join, Mitchell promised.

This should make it easier for consumers to buy PCs that support Oculus Rift -- and is the other half of the console-like Oculus Platform, which head of developer strategy Anna Sweet detailed on stage.
