Nexon and Respawn team up for Titanfall on mobile

October 29, 2015 | By Christian Nutt

Respawn hasn't announced a new Titanfall game yet -- but today, instead, the studio made moves toward getting the franchise onto smartphones, thanks to a new partnership with free-to-play game company Nexon.

The deal covers "several new and original smartphone and tablet games" set in the Titanfall universe, according to the announcement. The first title is expected to be released worldwide on iOS and Android next year, distributed by Nexon.

The two companies have both invested in mobile studio Particle City to work on the games. Particle City appears to be the rechristened Nuclear Divsion, the studio founded by Respawn Entertainment CEO and co-founder Vince Zampella along with casino game veteran Larry Pacey last year. Its web address now redirects to Particle City's.

"Nexon’s unrivaled publishing network and free-to-play expertise will allow Titanfall to reach new global audiences," Zampella said in a statement.

Under president and CEO Owen Mahoney, Nexon has invested in a number of Western studios of late -- notably Cliff Bleszinski and Guerrilla Games co-founder Arjan Brussee’s Boss Key Productions.
