Motiga lays off 16, as Gigantic MOBA development continues

Motiga lays off 16, as Gigantic MOBA development continues
December 4, 2015 | By Christian Nutt

Last year, Seattle-area mobile studio Motiga announced a pivot toward the PC (and console) MOBA space with Gigantic, after taking investment from Asian publishers NetEase and SmileGate. Today, the studio has laid off 16 staff in an effort to contain development costs.

Motiga CEO Chris Chung, formerly of NCsoft West and Trion Worlds, offers a blog post that reads, in part, "As a pre-revenue startup, our resources are finite. Stretching Gigantic development milestones over more time requires that we stretch those resources in the same fashion. As a result, today Motiga has had to lay off 16 employees at the studio."

Gigantic is slated to launch for Windows PCs and Xbox One.
