Though Sony's PlayStation VR headset has long been expected to launch in the first half of this year, GameStop CEO Paul Raines noted in a recent interview that GameStop expects to debut it sometime this fall.
"We are right now preparing for the launches of the major VR products. We're now in discussions with Oculus, with HTC and with Sony," Raines told Fox Business. "We will launch the Sony product this fall."
This is chiefly intriguing for VR market watchers, because Sony itself has refrained from speaking too specifically (at least in public) about its plans for launching PlayStation VR.
In contrast, Oculus began taking preorders for its $600 Rift headset last month, and expects to begin shipping units out in April. HTC has also expressed plans to launch the commercial version of its Vive headset in April, and is expected to begin taking preorders for the headset later this month.
