Now Google Play has its own indie game showcase

Now Google Play has its own indie game showcase
April 14, 2016 | By Alex Wawro

Heads up, Android game devs: the Google Play storefront has been updated to include a new "Indie Corner" that aims to showcase the work of independent game developers on the platform.

It's a notable move for both Google and the indies who release their games on Android: the latter will ideally see a spike in the number of people who discover and install their games, while the former will takes its cut of those proceeds.

Of course, this isn't exactly a novel development -- Apple has had something similar in place for roughly two years now, and Google announced plans to launch its Google Play indie section last month.

But now it's live, and the inaugural lineup spans both free and premium games. Developers interested in pitching their games for potential Indie Corner inclusion can do so via this Google submissions page.
