Newsbrief: Nintendo has agreed to purchase a 70 percent stake in JESNET, one of its largest console distribution partners in Japan, for $46.5 million.
The console maker -- which plans to release its next game platform, codenamed NX, in March 2017 -- says the deal will unify its supply chain so it can "meet consumer demand in a timely fashion."
"This [deal] means that Nintendo will have an integrated system from the development through supply of its products, [and will] strengthen the overall competitiveness of the Nintendo group," said the company.
The deal will be finalised at the start of the next fiscal year on April 3, 2017.
