Heads up: The deadline to register early at a discounted rate for the 2016 Virtual Reality Developers Conference ends tomorrow, September 7th at 11:59 PM Pacific!

Conference organizers are encouraging anyone interested in attending to register now at a discounted rate to save up to $400!

The premier event for creators of immersive VR (and AR) experiences, VRDC will be held this November 2-3 in San Francisco, at the prestigious Park Central Hotel.

To meet the growing demand for high‐quality content in the rapidly-expanding VR/AR space, VRDC is expanding to cover virtual and augmented reality in games, entertainment, and beyond into subjects such as healthcare, journalism, travel, manufacturing, retail, live events, real estate, training, and so much more.

When you register you'll be securing access to a very special two‐day event that will bring together VR/AR experts from multiple industries to share best practices, demo new technology, create new business partnerships, and exchange ideas with innovators shaping the industry.

Among the many luminaries speaking at VRDC are NASA's Francisco Delgado, discussing 'Hybrid Reality: A New Paradigm for Astronaut Training', and The Farm 51's Wojciech Pazdur on The Chernobyl Project, a unique VR virtual tour using photogrammetry & drones to document and map the aftermath of the world's worst nuclear disaster.

Also, don't miss Robin Hunicke, Funomena cofounder, longtime game producer & designer (Journey, Boom Blox), will delivering a Games & Entertainment Track talk titled "The Body is Back! Understanding Embodiment in VR & AR Game Design."

Funomena recently announced its collaboration with Google on Woorld, a fascinating mobile AR experience co-created by Katamari Damacy's Keita Takahashi for Google's Tango AR tech.

In the lecture, Hunicke will explore some of the core challenges and opportunities that the human body presents in design -  from controller design and gaze inputs to body posture, movement and gesture design.

Using examples drawn from dance, outdoor play, as well VR and AR game development, she will dig into the science and engineering behind embodied game design, looking at how work from social sciences, human computer interaction and psychology can inform our designs and make our games better!

And Ubisoft Montreal's Olivier Palmieri will be at VRDC sharing lessons learned from his work designing the remarkable VR flight game Eagle Flight in "Full Speed Flying in VR! The R&D Behind Eagle Flight."

The game was the result of an R&D project aimed at finding a way to allow comfortable high speed motion in VR, so Olivier will describe this research (e.g. effects of motion in peripheral vision), and solutions he and his team found (e.g. dynamic peripheral vision blinders).

He'll also run down how he and his compatriots sought to create VR flight game controls that would not only be comfortable, but also very intuitive and precise. The results surpassed their expectations, in some surprising ways!

So don't miss it! Head over to the VRDC website now and register to attend the conference, which will feature a plethora of great VR/AR talks spanning games, entertainment, and beyond into subjects such as healthcare, journalism, travel, manufacturing, retail, live events, real estate, training, and so much more.
