Report: China will have 465 million mobile players by the end of 2016

There's some good news for those mobile developers who continue to look East, as the total number of mobile gamers in China looks set to hit 465 million by the end of 2016. 

That's an increase of 100 million players in two years, and its a figure that arrives alongside projections which show domestic mobile games revenue could hit $8.3 billion in 2017 alone.

Those figures are included in the latest report from Asian market intelligence outfit, Niko Partners, which also indicates that Chinese mobile game devs will generate an additional $1.3 billion in 2016 from mobile game exports. By 2020, that figure could be closer to $2.1 billion. 

Chinese internet giant Tencent, which recently made waves with its $8.6 billion Supercell purchase, remains the biggest player in the region, pulling in 53 percent of the mobile market's total domestic revenue.
