Casey Hudson returns to head up BioWare as Aaryn Flynn departs the studio
After a brief stint with Microsoft, Mass Effect executive producer Casey Hudson has returned to BioWare to head up the studio as its new general manager.
Hudson, who had previously clocked nearly sixteen consecutive years at BioWare, first departed the studio in 2014. Soon after, he went on to join Microsoft Studios as the company’s creative director and worked closely with HoloLens and other emerging technology.
“When I left BioWare three years ago, it was the most difficult decision of my career. I needed some time off, needed a bit of change, and wanted to get involved in the new wave of disruptive technologies that were emerging,” Hudson shared in a post to the BioWare Blog. “The last few years have been transformative for me, from having time to reflect on what I most want to do, to working with new technologies at platform scale. And now, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to return to lead BioWare – a studio that I think of as home.”
In his new role, Hudson is filling the recently vacated shoes of the studio’s previous general manager and longtime BioWare developer Aaryn Flynn, who announced his departure from the company today.
“I have been contemplating changes in my own life for some time, but when I heard that Casey had confirmed he was up for the task, I realized the opportunities before us,” explained Flynn. In his own blog post, Flynn explains that he will remain on board with BioWare for the next few weeks to help Hudson acclimate to his new role but, following that, is moving on from the studio he first joined 17 years back.
