In just a week after Sony Online Entertanment and LucasArts launched the free-to-play virtual world, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures has reached one million registered users.
Debuted on September 15th, Clone Wars Adventures is based on the Cartoon Network animated series of the same name, allowing gamers to experience minigames, events, and environments in a Star Wars setting, as well as battle alongside characters like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Yoda.
To celebrate this milestone, SOE and LucasArts will reward all current Clone Wars Adventures users with a limited edition Golden Mouse Droid pet. The MMO will also host a virtual party at 3PM PDT, the first in a series of weekly live events, where players can gather to chat, duel, and show off their gear.
This is the second family-friendly virtual world from SOE, which developed and published the title, that's managed to attract a large userbase; its first, Free Realms, passed 12 million registered users several months ago since launching in April 2009 and is likely well beyond that count now.
"We are thrilled to have hit the one million player mark in Clone Wars Adventures so quickly and look forward to seeing the player community continue to grow," says SOE president John Smedley.
He continues, "Combining the technology, design infrastructure and lessons learned from Free Realms with the amazing Clone Wars brand, we knew we could make a great game, and we're happy to see that fans of all ages are enjoying the content as much as we enjoyed creating it."
