Dry Cactus' Poly Bridge, a physics-based bridge-building game that emphasizes player creativity, was a surprise hit on social media thanks to carefully planned sharing features in-game and key design choices.

At GDC 2016, developer Patrick Corrieri gave a talk on how that happened -- and what fellow devs can learn from his experience.

According to Corrieri, a lot of it stems from the game's replay sharing feature: a powerful tool that enables any game to give ownership of player-created content back to the the player. He suggested this kind of feature can open your game up to natural discoverability and organic growth in ways that are still largely untapped and under-used.

It was a smart talk, and especially useful if you're working on your own game and you're searching for new ways to get it in front of people. If you missed Corrieri's talk at GDC, no worries -- you can now watch it via the official GDC Vault YouTube channel!

About the GDC Vault

In addition to this presentation, the GDC Vault and its new YouTube channel offers numerous other free videos, audio recordings, and slides from many of the recent Game Developers Conference events, and the service offers even more members-only content for GDC Vault subscribers.

Those who purchased All Access passes to recent events like GDC, GDC Europe, and GDC Next already have full access to GDC Vault, and interested parties can apply for the individual subscription via a GDC Vault subscription page. Group subscriptions are also available: game-related schools and development studios who sign up for GDC Vault Studio Subscriptions can receive access for their entire office or company by contacting staff via the GDC Vault group subscription page. Finally, current subscribers with access issues can contact GDC Vault technical support.
