Google has launched Poly, a digital library where virtual and augmented reality devs can find and download 3D objects for use in their apps.

The platform was built from the ground up with AR and VR development in mind, and is has been fully integrated with Google's Tilt Brush and Blocks object creation software.

Better yet, it's also compatible with the Google ARCore and Apple ARKit and frameworks, meaning devs from outside of the Google ecosystem can also reap the rewards.

While it's a new venture, there are already thousands of free models available on Poly, which features everything from rocket ships and synthesizers to lighthouses and ice cream cones.

Many of the models can also be 'remixed' and tweaked to suit individual needs. Developers just need to like a remixable object, import it into Tilt Brush or Blocks, and make the necessary changes.

Poly will automatically credit and link to the original creation when remixes are uploaded to make sure every author is recognized for their work.

The library is already open for business, and an API is scheduled to launch soon. Interested devs can sign up to the Google VR/AR Developer newsletter to stay in the loop
