Beamdog creative director and veteran video game scribe David Gaider has left the studio

He joined Beamdog -- which made a name for itself working on 'Enhanced Editions' of classic RPGs like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale -- in February 2016, and was brought onboard to help create new worlds and iterate on classic stories.

Prior to that he spent over 17 years at BioWare, putting pen to paper to breath life into popular franchises including Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Baldur's Gate.

It's unclear what Gaider's next project will be, with the man himself simply explaining "it's time for me to move on." Beamdog thanked the wordsmith for his contributions over the years, and suggested his work will shape its stories for years to come.

"Dave came to Beamdog during interesting times," reads a blog post. "Since then, he has been teacher, mentor, and friend to many on the team. We’ve seen Dave conjure new worlds we’d love to play in, and spin stories in places already close to our hearts. Someday we will share the fruits of his labour."
