ZeptoLabs' iOS puzzle game Cut The Rope
continues to be a hit, as publisher Chillingo reveals the title has now crossed 6 million in App Store sales.
Chillingo, a subsidiary of Electronic Arts since October 2010, says it will offer an update (version 1.2) featuring 25 new levels. In celebration of Valentine's Day, these new levels will feature new artwork, heart-shaped candy and a new "split-candy" mode to challenge players.
The game features a small green monster named Om Nom -- whom Chillingo calls "one of the most recognized game characters on the iOS platform". In each level players must swipe their fingertip to 'cut' rope from which a candy is suspended, manipulating the level's environmental physics to get the candy into Om Nom's mouth.
"This 1.2 update is our gift to you this Valentine's Day for being the greatest fans out there," says ZeptoLab CTO Efim Voinov. "We hope players love the new box, levels and features just as much as we enjoyed creating it."
"Thank you for the continued support," he continues, "we are already working closely with Chillingo to enhance the game and think fans will be extremely delighted!"
Cut the Rope
hit the App Store on October 5, 2010, and sold 2 million units
before the end of the month. It reached 3 million units sold
by mid-November. It's priced at $.99 for iPhone and iPod Touch, and $1.99 for iPad. Chillingo offers a free 'lite' version of the game as well.
