Warner Bros. To Offer 'Season Pass' DLC Bundle For Xbox 360 Mortal Kombat

Warner Bros. To Offer 'Season Pass' DLC Bundle For Xbox 360 Mortal Kombat

June 17, 2011 | By Kyle Orland

Four sets of upcoming downloadable content for Warner Bros. Interactive's Mortal Kombat will be available at a reduced price as part of a "Season Pass" bundle on the Xbox 360.

Those that purchase the 1200 MSP ($15) season pass starting June 21 will be able to immediately download new combatant Skarlet, and also gain eventual access to Kenshi, Rain and an unannounced fourth fighter when they're made available.

Each of the four DLC packs will also be made available separately for 400 MSP ($5) on Xbox 360 and PS3, though Warner Bros. pointedly stated that the Season Pass bundle will only be available on Microsoft's system.

Today's announcement comes just a few weeks after Rockstar announced a similar "Rockstar Pass," bundling current and pending L.A. Noire DLC worth $20 for a limited-time collected price of just $12.

The move could be the start of a new trend towards pre-selling DLC collections for top-selling titles before such content is fully available. Publishers have previously collected DLC packages into reduced-price bundles after their release, or included them as part of retail re-releases with the original game.

Mortal Kombat premiered atop the U.S. new retail sales charts for April, according to NPD. The title charted second behind fellow April release Portal 2 in the UK charts after its release in the country.
