Minecraft-Inspired Xbox Live Indie FortressCraft Surpasses $1M In Sales

August 11, 2011 | By Mike Rose

FortressCraft, the Xbox Live Indie Game similar to Mojang's popular PC title Minecraft, has made more than $1 million in sales since its launch in April, breaking the record for highest-grossing XBLIG to date.

Developer Projector Games has revealed figures for the game, noting that a total of 400,823 purchases have been made at 240 Microsoft Points each, with 96.2 million MS Points spent on the game overall.

In the U.S., 269,773 copies of the trial version have been downloaded, while 253,212 final purchases were made. The UK also saw a high conversion rate, with 97,199 trial downloads and 73,618 sales in total.

Of those Xbox gamers who downloaded the trial version, there was a conversion rate of 84 percent. Overall a total of $1.2 million in sales was recorded.

Projector Games media manager ViraGunn explained what the game has in store in the future on the FortressCraft forums: "Just because we've hit this milestone does not mean we're going to kick up our heels and be content."

"A massive update is on its way - further adding to the depth of the world of FortressCraft, including customizable blocks and server rankings amongst other things."

FortressCraft previously saw 16,000 sales on its April 8 launch day, selling to a full 70 percent of players who tried out the demo on the day.
