Reports of Watch Dogs Legion source code leak prompts Ubisoft investigation

November 4, 2020 | By Chris Kerr

Ubisoft has launched an investigation into a potential Watch Dogs Legion source code leak.

As reported by DSOGaming, a ransomware group called 'Egregor' has seemingly obtained the source code for Watch Dogs Legions after accessing Ubisoft's internal network.

The source code for the title apparently clocks in at around 560GB, and has reportedly been made available for download on private trackers.

Although Ubisoft hasn't confirmed the leak, in a brief statement sent to Eurogamer it explained it's "aware of the group's claim and are currently investigating a potential data security incident."

The potential effects of the leak will depend on the disposition of those who acquire the source code, but we could see people look to create mods and enhancements, or perhaps attempt crack the game's anti-piracy protections.
