Xbox Live subscribers will be able to stream live, HD video of Clear Channel's iHeartRadio music festival this weekend, the companies have announced.
The concert, to be performed at Las Vegas' MGM Grand on September 23 and 24, includes dozens of top-charting music acts including Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Coldplay, Kenny Chesney, The Black Eyed Peas, Steven Tyler, Alicia Keys, and Jennifer Lopez.
Clear Channel reports that tickets to the event sold out in only ten minutes after being offered in July. The Xbox 360 stream will be the only method for viewing the concert remotely, and will be promoted via an Xbox Live dashboard link and promos on Clear channel's 800 radio stations.
"The high-definition streaming of this concert is part of our commitment to bring consumers the entertainment they want, shared with the people they care about, made easy,” Xbox Live corporate VP Tom Gibbons said in a statement.
Microsoft has previously streamed video of other live events on Xbox Live, such as E3 press conferences, and currently offers live sports coverage through ESPN3.
The company has also announced plans to bring live TV to Xbox Live
in the near future, but has yet to offer details about service partners or functionality.
