Edge Magazine, a UK-based consumer video game magazine, has revealed the winners of the People's Choice part of its annual Edge Award, traditionally given out as part of the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival. The editor's choice Edge Award, Half-Life 2, was previously announced at the EIEF, but the reader-voted People's Choice award has only just been revealed.
The overall winner was Darwinia, an abstract independent strategy PC game from Introversion Software, which beat out big-name titles further down the list to achieve the top honors. The other nine ranked titles were, in order: Resident Evil 4 for GameCube, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat for GameCube, Half-Life 2 for PC, Yoshi's Touch & Go for Nintendo DS, Daigasso! Band Brothers for DS, God of War for PS2, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath for Xbox, Lego Star Wars for multiple platforms, and Rome: Total War for PC.
The results were based on votes from Edge readers and attendees of the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival, held earlier in August from the 11th to 12th of the month.
