Organizers of the World Cyber Games have announced the final line-up and prize purse for the U.S. finals, to be held in New York from September 8th-10th. Since May, over 40,000 gamers from across North America have been battling to qualify for the U.S. Final, and while there, players will compete for a prize pool of $34,000 and a chance at representing their country in the WCG Final.

The winners in each category for the New York event will form Team USA and travel to Singapore in November to compete against the world's best gamers at the 2005 World Cyber Games Grand Final. Overall, more than 1 million gamers are in the process of competing globally to reach their national final and for a chance at an aggregate prize pool of $2.5 million.

The specific competitions and prize money for the U.S. finals are as follows on PC: Half-Life: Counter-Strike - 1st Place $ 5,000; 2nd Place $ 2,500; 3rd Place $ 2,000: FIFA Soccer 2005 - 1st Place $ 2,000; 2nd Place $ 1,000; 3rd Place $ 500: Need for Speed: Underground 2 - 1st Place $ 2,000; 2nd Place $ 1,000; 3rd Place $ 500: StarCraft: Brood War - 1st Place $ 2,000; 2nd Place $ 1,000; 3rd Place $ 500: WarCraft III: the Frozen Throne - 1st Place $ 2,000; 2nd Place $ 1,000; 3rd Place $ 500: Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - 1st Place $ 2,000; 2nd Place $ 1,000; 3rd Place $ 500. For Xbox titles, the prizes are as follows: Dead or Alive Ultimate - 1st Place $ 2,000; 2nd Place $ 1,000; 3rd Place $ 500: Halo 2 - 1st Place $ 2,000; 2nd Place $ 1,000; 3rd Place $ 500.
