May 6 th, 2013 - On May 5 th 2012, a group of friends based out of Longwood University tried to break two Guinness World Records, but they were soundly defeated.  A year later, starting on May 6th, 2013, Matt, Will, Jeanne, and Dan return to take on new Guinness World Records for their chance for redemption.

Event page:

It’s not all about the records.  Just like last year, the LPCP crew will be raising money for Child’s Play Charity, a charity organization that raises money for books, toys, movies, and games for children’s hospitals around the world.  We have hand-made crafts ready to go to the home of the lucky winners of our live-auctions!

We have a little over 72 hours to collect as many records and as much money as possible.  Can the LPCP crew do it, or will they walk way defeated once again?

William Chase will be going for the "Longest Video Games Marathon Playing a Fighting Game", Matthew Paxton  will be going for "Longest Video Games Marathon Playing Mario (series)",  while Daniel Sweid will be going for the "Longest Video Games Marathon Playing Mega Man"

These records will be going on at different times throughout the event.  But rest assured, there will always be someone attempting a Guinness World Record, so we need to fill out all time slots!

Child’s Play Charity:

From the website

“Since 2003, we’ve set up and organized Child’s Play, a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in our network of over 70 hospitals worldwide. Over the years, you as a community have answered the call and come together to raise millions of dollars.

Child’s Play works in two ways. With the help of hospital staff, we set up gift wish lists full of video games, toys, books, and other fun stuff for kids. By clicking on a hospital location on our map, you can view that hospital’s wish list and send a gift.

Child’s Play also receives cash donations throughout the year. With those cash donations, we purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience.”
