A doll that uses Bluetooth and speech-to-text technology to connect to the internet and answer her owner’s questions has been voted top gadget toy at Toy Fair by the organisers of Gadget Show Live, the UK’s leading consumer tech event. My Friend Cayla from UK toy company Vivid is the third winner of this accolade heading a list of five fantastic toys chosen from thousands launched this week at Olympia in London.

1st place: My Friend Cayla, Vivid, RRP £59.99

Katie Tozer from Gadget Show Live said: “I felt really jealous that toys like this weren’t around when I was a child, my ten year old self would have loved Cayla. I also think she’s amazing value for money give how much technology she incorporates.”

2nd place: Crazy Cart, Re:creation, around £450 RRP

“Scooters are ubiquitous now, which is great for keeping kids fit and active, but it’s nice to see a new kid on the block with the Crazy Cart.”

3rd place: Lexibook Range, Lexibook, assorted RRPs

“There is a wide range of tablets available specifically for children now, but what sets this apart from the rest for me are all the amazing accessories that come with it including the DJ Kit and the Spy Race, a remote control car with a spy camera.”

4th place: Chill Factor, Character Options, £14.99

“I loved this ice cream maker; it’s different, it’s cool and I can see every home having one.”

5th place: Cupets, Flair, £6.99

“The gaming element to Cupets is really exciting and they are fantastic value for money. I can see these having really wide appeal and crossing over into the gaming community.”

Katie Tozer also commended five additional products as ‘ones to watch’, including:

·        Animin, a digital pet game incorporating augmented reality and avatar messaging

·        The Go Glow range from Worlds Apart, including night lights that double up as torches.

·        VTech’s Smartwatch –wearable tech designed for children

·        K’Nex, which is scheduled to make a big comeback in 2014

·        Revell’s Texter remote control helicopter that you can text messages to and it appears via the blades
