The 3 selection modes

If you want to try your luck, regardless of where you live around the world, the Just Dance World Cup has taken you into account! Qualifiers will be taking place throughout the summer, in Internet game sessions or during events. There are three selection modes:

Technical selections: on the online game mode the World Dance Floor, during special qualifying sessions organized for 8 days, on July 13th, 20th, 27th, August 3rd and 31st, and September 7th, 14th and 21st – all Sundays. Points from the online performances can be accumulated so players can move up the rankings, which are organized by platform. 10 players will qualify this way. The rankings page:

Artistic selections: on Just Dance TV, the video creation feature integrated in the game. Each video sent in to Just Dance TV during the summer will be watched by the Jury, and, if it catches their eyes, will be sent in to the JD World Cup channel. At the end of the selection period, September 21st, 4 players will be chosen in this way, based on creativity, choreography, charisma and originality. The way you vote for the videos will also enable us to identify your favourite dancers more quickly. The Just Dance TV page:

Open selections: through tournaments organized during ESWC events or video games trade fairs at the UBISOFT stands. At least 6 players will be selected in this manner. The events selection page:

There will be a total of 20 players invited to compete in the ESWC World Final during Paris Games Week, with free travel and accommodation.  All of the matches will be held on the event’s Main Stage, with an audience of thousands. Tingles guaranteed.

How to participate in the World Dance Floor selections

The World Dance Floor is a feature of Just Dance 2014, where you can dance online simultaneously with other players. The songs come one after the other, randomly. You score points depending on how well you perform the moves. You also know how many other players are dancing to the same song in real time. At the end of the song, you find out if you were better than the other dancers.

To participate in the qualifiers through World Dance Floor, two things are essential:

  • You must have a UPLAY account and play while connected to your UPLAY account. Otherwise it is impossible for you to authenticate and record your performances in the rankings. You can create a UPLAY account here:
  • You must play at times set by the competition. The principle behind the selections is that your scores are recorded at a specific time, in particular so people can’t rack up points by playing endlessly.
To let as many players as possible participate we have picked 8 days from July 13th to September 21st 2014.
  • Day 1: Sunday, July 13th 2014
  • Day 2: Sunday, July 20th 2014
  • Day 3: Sunday, July 27th 2014
  • Day 4: Sunday, August 3rd 2014
  • Day 5: Sunday, August 31st 2014
  • Day 6: Sunday, September 7th 2014
  • Day 7: Sunday, September 14th 2014
  • Day 8: Sunday, September 21st 2014
On each of these days there will be 3 game sessions of 60 minutes each, at very specific times that can’t be missed. To be extremely clear, here are the times of these 3 sessions, by time zone:

  • Session A: from 3 am EDT to 4 am EDT
  • Session B: from 8 am EDT to 9 am EDT
  • Session C: from 1 pm EDT to 2 pm EDT
  • Session A: from 9 am CEST to 10 am CEST
  • Session B: from 2 pm CEST to 3 pm CEST
  • Session C: from 7 pm CEST to 8 pm CEST
  • Session A: from 3 pm CST to 4 pm CST
  • Session B: from 8 pm CST to 9 pm CST
  • Session C: from 1 am CST to 2 am CST (+1 day)
Two specific things change the way your points are recorded on the World Dance Floor:
  • Only your best session of the day will count, to reduce the advantage of players who can take part in all 3 sessions.
  • Only your 4 best days will count, to reduce the advantage of players who can take part on all 8 days. Anything will still be possible, even if you miss a few days.
Each performance during a session scores points for the player according to the number of simultaneous competitors they have beaten. Basically, the more players there are in a session the better your chance of scoring points. Tell your friends!

The World Dance Floor selections will be open on 5 platforms, and will generate 5 separate rankings: for the Nintendo Wii U, Microsoft Xbox One, Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony Playstation 4 and Sony Playstation 3.

A total of 10 players will qualify this way, the two best in each ranking at the end of the selection period.
