  gamescom awards 2014: jury, joining in and more

•             Media experts from the computer and video games world select the best new games at gamescom 2014

•             New: jury assisted by digital games fans and award of a public prize

•             gamescom awards presented in a total of 17 categories

On 15 August 2014, the gamescom awards will be presented in public at gamescom for the sixth time. The gamescom awards are the coveted accolades of the European computer and video games industry. There is a chance to win the prestigious prize in a total of 17 categories. A new category is the “gamescom most wanted consumer award”, designed purely as a public prize and awarded solely by end consumers via online voting.

From 9 August onward those who are so interested can vote for their favourites on the gamescom Facebook page where the nominated games will be published  Kiosks with mobile devices and a voting tool are also to be found at gamescom itself – including in Hall 10.2. The voting option for the “gamescom most wanted consumer award” ends on 15 August (midday).

In what is a first, the expert jury – comprising representatives of international media and social media companies, gaming communities and well-known personalities from the entertainment sector – will also be supported by consumers. Games fans can apply for a place on the jury. The competition is open to anyone uploading a review of a video game or a photo of his games collection or 'playground' or a description of a game you would ideally like to have as per the guidelines and technical requirements in the Facebook app provided for that purpose. You must be at least 18 years of age to take part. A total of nine games fans are wanted to support the expert jury. You will find the application for the gamescom jury here .

The nominations will be announced at the beginning of August. The gamescom awards ceremony 2014 will take place on 15 August 2014 starting at 06:00 p.m. on the “Let's play meets gamescom” stand in Hall 10.1.

With its 17 members, the association represents around 85 percent of the market for computer and video games in Germany and sponsors gamescom, for example.
