22cans welcomes Simon Phillips as new CEO
Guildford, Surrey, UK – 28 th May: 22cans announced today that long standing games industry executive, Simon Phillips, has joined the company as CEO. With over 20 years’ industry experience Phillips joins founder, Peter Molyneux, as the company begins a reboot with a number of new hires.

Not only are we seeing some amazing originalities in design but also some incredible innovations in the way these are executed from a business point of view. 22cans is unlike any team I’ve ever worked with before and has been one of the stand-out studios over the last three years. I’m super excited to be part of the future here and to help take 22cans to the next level.”
Phillips continues, “Running a business, especially a fast paced business like this, takes a lot of energy and focus. At 22cans we have a mission statement and that is ‘To create World Changing ideas’ and with Peter now able to fully immerse himself in the Creative Direction of not only Godus but The Trail and all the really smart, cool ideas we have, I believe we can do just that.” “It’s important for us, as a studio, to fully understand what it is we do best and what our role is in delivering our ideas. I want to ensure the lifeblood of the studio is as creative and dynamic as possible.”

The Award Winning independent UK developer is also pleased to announce a number of new recruits joining the company:
Anthony Straub joins as a Producer and brings with him three years’ of industry experience. Previously at Asobo Studios, Anthony has successfully worked with Ubisoft & Microsoft on franchises including the hugely popular Monopoly series. “Every game is an exciting new adventure. I hope to bring a new level of structure to the team. There are always new things to learn and you’re always discovering new ways to make games” said Straub.
Colin Gallacher joins as PR Manager. Previous journalism and advertising experience for Colin includes MCV Award winning retailer, ShopTo, and freelance for other award winning outlets such as VG247, GodisaGeek and The Average Gamer.
Richard Williams joins the programming team and his past work includes time at Blitz Games Studios - IndieCity, working on Raspberry Pi projects. “I’m putting all of my passion into creating a really enjoyable product and it’s great to work with a team with so much experience” said Williams.
Annah Wootten-Pinéles has been added to the Art team. Previously, Annah has worked with serious games studio, PlayGen and was heavily involved with setting up creative technology festival, Digital Shoreditch.
Shay Hulbert & Ryan Singh are 22cans’ most recent additions. Shay studied Game Art at De Montfort University and is now applying her artistic talents to 22cans’ upcoming titles. Ryan joins as a Programming Intern and is studying Computer Games & Entertainment at Goldsmiths University in London.
