Paris, France - October 12, 2017 -  Independent French developers, The Pixel Hunt and Figs, and publisher Playdius, in a co-production with ARTE, European Cultural TV and digital network, have today announced that their latest project, the acclaimed instant messaging adventure Bury me, my Love, will launch October 26, 2017 on iOS and Android platforms.

Several new artworks and gifs that offer a sneak peek at the upcoming launch trailer have been revealed today as well, and can be viewed here.

Inspired by real events and imbued with themes of love, hope and migration, Bury me, my Love tells the story of Syrian refugee Nour and her husband Majd as Nour undertakes a perilous journey to safety. The title of the story-driven interactive fiction comes from the Syrian goodbye phrase that roughly means “Take care, and don’t even think about dying before I do.” This phrase takes on a deeper meaning as players take on the role of Majd, who is forced to stay behind and can only able to communicate with his wife through their smartphones. By reading instant messages and choosing response options, players help Nour overcome the hardships she will encounter, with the story featuring multiple endings. Bury me, my Love can be played in real-time, with messages arriving in intermittent intervals, sometimes stretching for hours. A fast-track option, which allows the story to be played without pauses, is available as well.

A former journalist, The Pixel Hunt founder Florent Maurin has created several easily accessible adventure games based on real-life events including ReBuilding Haiti and Sauvons le Louvre. After Maurin chanced upon the gripping story of refugee Dana S., a young Syrian woman who fled her country and is now living in Germany, she became the inspiration and one of the special editorial advisors on Bury me, my Love.

“Bury me, my Love is inspired by real events experienced by refugees such as Dana, but our main characters of Nour and Majd are fictional,” comments founder Florent Maurin. “Our goal for this project was to represent an experience shared by a multitude of people in a thought-provoking and unique way; the hope of finding a better life, with only a smartphone to connect you with your loved ones as you make life and death decisions.”

Bury me, my Love will be available on the App Store and Google Play store on October 26 as a premium paid title.

You can follow the game via the official website or on social media via Twitter or Facebook.
