Arizona - January 16th, 2018 - Fancy Fish Games is excited to be preparing for the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for their hit resource-gathering and crafting game, Aground.

The small indie studio released the starting island of Aground for free last October, via portals like Armor Games, Kongregate and Newgrounds - as an experiment to see how players would react to the idea. To their delight, the game immediately exploded in popularity. Now Aground has over a million plays across all sites, has won top monthly awards, and is among the highest-rated free games on the web.

Now, they hope to respond to the incredible fan enthusiasm for the game by expanding it much further - including launching into outer space. To that end, they will be crowdfunding the development of a paid Early Access version of the game with a lot more content. A preview page of the Kickstarter campaign, which will go live on January 31st, is available here.

"With Aground, our goal was to design a game around the theme of Progression," says project lead David Maletz. "You begin with just the ability to pick up wood, and slowly build your way up to a thriving settlement and will eventually be able to make your way to space and travel between planets."

The team hopes that the Kickstarter campaign will be an exciting development for fans of the free version of the game, and that the community springing up around the game on the Aground Discord, and Subreddit, will be eager to help bring the full version to life.
