Playerauctions Jubilant When HUGE First PUBG Xbox Update Goes Live

[This unedited press release is made available courtesy of Gamasutra and its partnership with notable game PR-related resource GamesPress.]

A week after the release of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) on Xbox, the first patch went live. It's a 4.71GB update that improves or adds various features. However, it's the player's opinion if these are significant or not.

Gameplay and UI Changes

Players can now gas up while on a bike or a sidecar. The player icon on the map is made to be more noticeable. Prompts will soon appear when low on ammo for reloading or when able to enter a vehicle. The update also includes new or improved hair colors during character creation.

Some animation or graphical glitches had gotten addressed in this patch, such as some animations for a sidecar passenger in first person view. Other problems that had gotten similarly discussed are camera issues while riding on the back of a buggy, as well as some arm animations while holding certain weapons. Lastly, swimming characters will no longer face other directions when stopped.

Other Improvements and Bug Fixes

The update gives a first pass improvement to various graphical and performance issues. Anti-aliasing got improved, and a localization update for the Vietnamese and Spanish versions is in the mix. Controls when riding a motorcycle are no longer inverted, along with the keyboard control getting disabled.

As for bug fixes, various bugs have been addressed and fixed, such as some animation bugs while crouching or prone. Other bugs the update fixes are player nametags not appearing properly in the Lobby when in either Squad or Duo play, curtains blocking line of sight, and voice chat ceasing to function when the squad leader leaves the game. One interesting bug is one letting players lean out of vehicles even when obstructed; however, it just got fixed. Lastly, an issue about boxes colliding with each other in Yanaya City as well as a small typo in the controller guide was corrected.

Parting Words

Unfortunately, there's still no mention of any PUBG skins or other in-game purchases being made available, so we’ll have to remain patient. On the other hand, PUBG will continue to improve, even as its PC version looms closer to a real release outside of early access. It will be the first of many updates for the Xbox version, so look forward to a smoother, better PUBG in the future.

Chicken dinners await! Download the patch and get cooking.
