Reach Robotics, the Bristol-based robotics start-up, has today launched the next generation of their flagship product - the world’s first gaming robot, MekaMon.

Following the release of MekaMon Berserker V1 in November last year, Reach has made significant improvements including an entirely new AR and gaming experience featuring markerless AR and a revamped UX/UI.

Silas Adekunle, CEO and Co-Founder of Reach Robotics, said: “Our guiding principle is to use robotics technology to create products that entertain, inspire, and educate beyond those first few hours of gameplay.

“Consequently, MekaMon is designed to be more than a toy. It’s a platform that pushes consumer robotics beyond the novelty factor.

“With V1, we grew an incredibly engaged community and it is by listening to them that we have been able to deliver the advancements we have in V2. This is a dramatically improved user experience with a boundless playspace thanks to new markerless AR and a more durable and expressive robot.”

Following the success of V1 at Apple, V2 will see increased distribution across the UK, US, Canada, UAE and Europe, with availability on apple.com and in select Apple Stores from the 17th October.

“Our ambition has always been to deliver the world’s first gaming robot to the mass market and we’re starting to realise that with V2.

“The major updates are part of this, and we will continue to improve and develop to ensure that our users will constantly have new features and experiences to explore.

“Crucially, we are ensuring that everything we do will be backwards compatible. From regular firmware updates to ensure your robot runs smoothly to new app features will be available on all previous MekaMon models, keeping all MekaPilots on the battlefield.”

In addition to the launch of V2, Reach Robotics has also seen significant expansion in the last 12 months growing 129% including key hires to the senior team such as Nintendo veteran James Honeywell and former Deliveroo CFO Philip Green.

MekaMon Berserker V2 will be available from from Tuesday 16th October priced at £249.99 from MekaMon.com
