December 18th 2018 — London, UK

Altergaze launches the Alpha version of HoverGrease: a competitive multiplayer top-down arena shooter where genetically enhanced anthro influencers blast each other for freedom.

To be part of the Alpha, players are invited to head over to the HoverGrease Alpha official page:

The action from HoverGrease takes place in a biologically advanced dystopian future Earth. For the Alpha, players can choose between two of the heroes from the HoverGrease character roster: Kimmy Frog and Johnny Cock-Head. So far, 5 out of 12 characters have been revealed.

Unlike most top-down shooters, HoverGrease is a multiplayer-only game, built around hero-based characters with a focus on team gameplay. The Alpha version features three online multiplayer game modes: 4v4 Team Elimination, 4v4 Team Deatchmatch and F4A (Free for All). More objective-oriented game modes will be added later, specifically, CTF (Capture the Flag) and Zone Control.

The Alpha version is limited to only one map: Skyrise. Players can collect and use any of the 6 weapons in the game, along with life and shield pickups. Most weapons are projectile based, so skilled players can train to avoid them. Apart from shooting each other, players can use stealth, jump and deflect projectiles, depending on how they want to use their resources.

‘I think arena top-down shooters, in general, have a casual-ish feel to them. We are trying to make HoverGrease more of a pro competitive top-down shooter.’ says  Liviu B. Antoni, co-founder of Altergaze.

‘We pushed for getting the Alpha out in order to see what others think of HoverGrease and work towards a Beta based on feedback. We're open for suggestions and there are still so many things to figure out. We want to build and listen to the HoverGrease community.’  says Alexandra Stancu, the second half of the Altergaze creative duo.

The HoverGrease Alpha will be limited to 1000 players on a first-come, first-served basis. While the alpha release is available to download and play right now, in order to secure priority for all other releases, players are required to sign up on Over 300 people already signed up as part of last week’s Private Alpha Release.

HoverGrease will be released for Early Access (for PC and Mac) in 2019.

Players are encouraged to join the official HoverGrease Discord Server at to keep up to date with development updates, report bugs and chat with the devs and other fellow players.
