LOS ANGELES -- FoxNext Games has announced that the next addition to their indie games fund will be Triband’s critically-acclaimed golf parody game WHAT THE GOLF?, currently set to release globally on PCs at the end of 2019. It’s a golf game for people who hate golf!

“We are inspired by what our colleagues at Fox Searchlight have achieved with independent films and endeavor to similarly empower unique voices in games. In establishing FoxNext Games’ independent development fund, we set out to curate a unique portfolio of games that push the envelope of creativity,” said TQ Jefferson, Vice President, External Development, FoxNext Games.WHAT THE GOLF? captures this vision fully. With its engaging concept, design and hilarious premise, we’re thrilled to partner with Triband, and other like-minded developers to help their games reach players around the world.”

Nominated for the 2019 SXSW Gamer’s Voice award and the 2019 Independent Games Festival for Excellence in Design, WHAT THE GOLF? is an imaginative and comedic reinvention of golf being developed by Triband, a Copenhagen, Denmark-based games studio. WHAT THE GOLF? takes gaming in a very different direction, challenging people to “golf” objects that go far beyond the average golf ball. A silly physics-based golf parody where every golf course reveals surprises, from brilliant to hilarious, including epic golf boss fights, horse golfing, house golfing and people golfing. Warning: this game will not make you a better golf player. WHAT THE GOLF? tees up on PCs at the end of 2019.

WHAT THE GOLF? joins FoxNext Games’ independent development fund following last month’s announcement of Altered Matter’s experimental take on the puzzle platform genre, Etherborn, which is currently in development and set to launch this spring. FoxNext Games is actively pursuing partnerships with promising independent developers.

About Triband

Triband is a tiny team working to surprise players and break genres while simply having fun. They are based in a secret basement in Copenhagen, Denmark, Europe.
